Pe In Nursery

 Share

Recommended Posts

I run Nursery in school and we have a hall time slot every week for 'PE'. At the moment we are using the Sticky Kids CD but I am aware that some of the older boys find thid a bit 'twee' and are reluctant to do it. Has anyone got any other suggestions for PE in Nursery? Thanks! x

do you have access to any kind of equipment? If so could you set up an obstacle course? This is quite successful with our children. I do parachute games as well. We have also considered doing superhero movements, so burning our own cd with short downloads of superhero music to which the children make the appropriate hero movements.

You could have a skills session we use big bumpy balls, ribbon twirlers, hoops bean bags etc.

I second all that Panders has suggested.....

We also......run races, move in different ways.......crawl, shuffle on bottoms, take giant steps, fairy steps - you get the idea! xD

Form trains and chuff chuff, toot, toot our way around the hall!

Play 'action games'

Dance to disco classics - YMCA, Agadoo etc. :o

Sunnyday, you beat me to it. We used to do all those lovely activities in nursery PE, brings back memories. Sunnyday, do you have a spare room in Pre-School you use for PE or do you tidy everything away and then do PE. (sorry don't mean to change the topic)? mrsW.x

We are incredibly lucky - we are based in a village hall - we have our own room on the first floor and access to a large hall on the groundfloor too!

I earned this - worked in a glorified shed for many years - shared this 'shed' (old village hall) with lots of wildlife :oxD it had the most awful 'smell' too! There we had to 'pack away'......

Sounds like you really earned it, I think I may even be tempted to share with wildlife to have my own hall LOL. We only have access to one room and am thinking of clearing everything away once a week to allow children to enjoy large space for PE. Thanks, mrsW.x

Good luck with PE, kathyscitt, let us know how you get on. x
