Guest Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 One of my parents has emailed me to say she thinks her child may have had slapped cheek. I've just phoned all the other parents to let them know their children may have been in contact with it. One mum is pregnant and I know it causes worry for people but why do I feel so guilty. he was only contagious before symptoms appeared and I've got really good hygiene procedures and everyone knows and follows my sickness policy. Does anyone else feel guilty all the time or is it just me
Guest Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 ALL THE TIME!!!! And not just about work. Also husband, children, my mother, his parents, the house, the garden etc etc etc!!!!!
sunnyday Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Oh yes - think it's a female thing! My sister and I joke that it's our Jewish blood - my maternal grandmother was Jewish - we're both sure we were born 'guilty'! But do remember YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME!!! Sunnyday
Guest Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I suppose its just because we care really but it's such a horrible feeling thanks for your replies - i feel less alone
Alison Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 you only feel guilty because you care and you wouldnt be in this profession if you didnt care try to accept that your not responcible and some things are beyond your control

Sunnyday I'm a Catholic - Catholic guilt is a killer!!!
dublinbay Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I'm a Catholic - Catholic guilt is a killer!!! I'm a convent educated Irish catholic female with the word 'guilty' stamped on my forehead from birth. The weight of the world's worries sat firmly on my shoulders until I left home and country. Joking aside..............like others have said dcn, if you weren't such a caring person this child's sickness would not be on your mind. Try not to let it get you down. These things happen and you cannot always control them. He'll be right as rain soon no doubt.
HappyMaz Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Realistically there was nothing you could have done any differently, dcn. As the others have said, you feel guilty because you care about your job and the children and families you work with. Take care, Maz
