Hi I have been asked to find out about the role of a trustee of a setting? I am presuming it similar to the committee? Does anyone have any information they could share?

Thank you

Hi Jenni,

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help, but I'm sure someone will be along soon.... xD

Have you tried the Pre-school Learning Alliance? They can usually provide lots of useful information.

i think trustees sit on your commitee - PLA will definitly give you the info you need but think they are responsible for the running and management of the commitee :o

Hi

I am a trustee of a pre-school and whilst the role is vastly similar to that of a committee member there are some additional responsibilities involved. If the setting you are a trustee of goes into liquidation and it can be proven that it was as a result of the trustees decisions you can be liable financially. Mant settings are becoming a Ltd company to avoid this, we haven't yet but are investigating! You also have to prepare a trustees report each year for the Charities Commission.

Thank you all for your help. I have been on the PLA website and got some information. Thanks again!
