Tip the beans into a binbag - this is very messy so be prepared. wash the outer and then put it all back together. big rugs you could use some of that proprietary carpet cleaner or ask professional carpet cleaners to do it.

or wait till a lovely summer day and do it outside yourself

I must admit that I put it all in the machine and it came out ok and just mixed the beans around as I was drying it next to the radiator. As for the large rugs - we bought a vax and do the rugs every half term. You could even hire the vax out to parents to cover the costs. Also put alot of our small plastic stuff (counters etc) in the cutlery bit of the dishwasher (it has a lid that closes) and they come up a treat.

Me, too! Duplo, Lego, sticklebricks, dolls house furniture & figures, plastic baby toys, it all goes in either the dishwasher or the washing machine :o (usually when Hubby is out at work!)

just to add to the washing machine theme, we don't wash toys in the washing machine tho we do tumble dry them LOL xD I may think about washing them in washing machine tho.

word of warning on tumble dryer, literally only need to be in 5 mins to shake of the water and make sure toys are in tied pillercase and their is other clothing etc in the dryer (otherwise you will chip the dryer, as i learnt :o )

oooh, tumble drying toys.......... may try this one, it's always the drying bit that's a pain.

Thanks for the tip!

Although on the cleaning theme, I was told by one childminder that she usually takes a student on placement and gets them to check & clean the toys! :o Poor student - that'd be enough to put them off!

We have those large two gallon ready mixed paints with the plunger. We keep a piece of pipecleaner up the spout to keep it clear, but unfortunately over Christmas one had been without it's pipecleaner and I compressed the plunger and POW!!!!!!! green paint EVERYWHERE!!!! up the walls, all over me of course, floor, shelving window! but, not a great deal in the little pot under the spout - funny that! Screams of laughter from my staff of course!

Yes I've got some lovely photos of me covered in marbling ink !

I got a bit carried away with squeezing the little bottle and of course the nozzle was blocked so whosh the whole top came off and it hit the water and splashed all over me ! The trouble was my work collegue warmed me she said ''be careful !'', it wouldn't have been so bad but it happened the last time I had used them ! The children thought it was hysterical and laughed and laughed !

Mind you my clothes never recovered !
