Guest Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 A friend sent me this and I really enjoyed it (sad!). Make sure you do it properly tho, no cheating! YOUR_AGE_BY_EATING_OUT.doc Quote
Guest Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Wow that really works. Having a day off up in Aberdeenshire due to the snow. Great to have the time to do silly things!!! Quote
Guest Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Love things like this. I'm not a maths whizz but would love to understand why/how it works Quote
mundia Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Sad person that am I, I have worked out why it works, but that would spoil the fun wouldnt it? Quote
Beau Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Sad person that am I, I have worked out why it works, but that would spoil the fun wouldnt it? (Don't tell anyone but I was tempted to as well, but I have so much else to do at the moment I resisted!) Quote
MrsWeasley Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 It didn't work for me.. And I did it several times to make sure I wasn't being a div... Unless I was being a div all those times! MrsWeasley Quote
HappyMaz Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Unless I was being a div all those times! I'm not sure I approve of the use of the word 'div'. I blame the parents. Quote
mundia Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Now Mrs Weasley, there are only two reasons why this doesnt give the answer you expect: 1. you didnt do the sums right! 2. You are over 100 years old (no it actually doesn't work if you were born pre 1908!) (just to show that I'm even sadder to have worked out that!) Now which is it? Quote

It's number two! Hmm. Let me try again. ;)x Quote
mundia Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Oh no.. you got me mundia! It's number two! Have you told your mother? Quote
MrsWeasley Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Have you told your mother? I don't think she'd welcome that news!! Quote
MrsWeasley Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I did it again, and it didn't work - using calculator on computer! But then used the calculator on my phone and it worked! And thats a bit unfair on the over 100s, what if they want to do it?! Do you think there's anyone on here over 11 actually?! Mrs Weasley Quote
mundia Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Oh dear Mrs W I can feel a lesson coming on. Did you follow the instructions in the correct order? Quote
MrsWeasley Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Oh dear Mrs W I can feel a lesson coming on. Did you follow the instructions in the correct order? Yes I know them off by heart now I've done it so many times! I give up. I got it to work on my phone though so I'm happy! ha ha Quote
mundia Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Ok for a little bit of mathematical teasing , try this: Think of a 3 digit number where first and last digit are different. Reverse the number (eg if yo chose 123 in reverse it would be 321). Take the smaller number from the larger one. You will get a new 3 digit number. (if you get the number 99 please add a zero in front) Now reverse the number of your answer. Now add these last two numbers together.. Write down here what your answer is.... Quote
HappyMaz Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 How on earth does that work!! Well you've got a real GCSE in maths and not just an equivalency so work it out and let me know! Quote
