Tapestry

Using ipads for observations

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone is using tapestry in their settings. I am wanting to use this method but unfortunately tapestry don't send a rep to demonstrate. My head teacher, quite rightly, would like to see it in action. My question is would anyone be able, or willing, to share their ideas and experience by commenting on here or maybe even giving a demo ? I'm not entirely sure this the place to discuss this. Thanks in advance

Would you like me to move this into a more general area so that all members can see it? At the moment only members in your LA can see it. You can take a free trial of Tapestry if you would like to have a play with it to see what it can do - if you put 'real' children's info onto it that will all be saved if you decide to subscribe. Or alternatively you can put 'fake' children in and start again if you subscribe. You can sign up for a free trial here

You might also find these previous threads useful when making your decision.

Hi

Yes please I hadn't realised it worked like that. I have had a quick trial but it's my head that feels he needs to see it first hand from someone who's used it already

Thanks

At the price you pay for Tapestry, there's no way you'd get a rep out to demonstrate. It's so simple to set up and get to grips with the basics. If he's a head he's theoretically an intelligent person - can't you get him to have a look at the Tapestry forum and some of the tutorials?

You would wouldn't you Lois. I've heard great things about it and hope to get started on it soon. I'm not sure what else to do. It'd be great if someone in my area, durham, could just spare an hour to show him. ?

We started in February this year and have found Tapestry to be a big time saver for staff. We have produced all sorts of reports to cohort track and also individual progress reports. Parents have given a very positive response to it too!

The lovely tutorials should show him all he needs. If he could open those alongside a trial version he would be able to learn kinaesthetically and probably understand the system better than an hour spent showing him would. He could then do it in his own time and pace!
