  1. Ahh sunnyday - sorry you are poorly......sending love and bestes get well wishes xx
  2. How is it Friday again????? Seriously the time goes so fast it makes my head spin sometimes. Cold and bright here too, hoping the weather lasts for at least Saturday & Sunday morning as meeting friends and we are planning a wander round Arundel Saturday and staying in Littlehampton overnight so will be walking out for brunch Sunday morning ..... might need the fresh air and there is wine on the agenda ๐Ÿท Lovely news Zigzag - I love being a nanny although as I am in Sussex and he is in Lancashire it is not so easy - thank goodness for facetime! Have fun weekends one and all and fingers crossed for fine weather for those of you inclined to garden ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  3. Afternoon all Miserable murky day here again......please spring can you just get an earlier train and arrive now!!!! Very quiet weekend pottering about planned and if this weather does not cheer up so I can get out to walk the dog the ratio of under the duvet to out of the duvet may be very narrow lol Take care and have fun whatever to all do xx
  4. Hi Trekker You need to have a crafty member of staff that could whizz them up on a sewing machine as they are only a rectangle sewn on 3 sides I guess. Maybe stupid suggestion but could you use large zip & seal type bags that you could then write names on or do they have to be big enough for a pillow too? Sorry never worked in a setting with beds so not sure what bedding needed. Sue x
  5. Morning all Cold old January here in Lewes. The snow on Wednesday came thick and fast about 4pm and any grit that had been on the roads had been washed away by rain and it caused chaos on the roads round here ๐Ÿ˜ฑ The roads are now clear but the snow is laying on the downs as it has been so cold since and so the downs look very pretty. I have a quiet weekend planned thank goodness....still trying to get over having had a house full for 2 weeks over the christmas holidays lol Take care all of you and keep warm Sue x
  6. Hi trekker Sadly I cannot answer your question I just wanted to say hello and how nice it was to see you on the forum again...it has been a little while. Hopefully some of the gang will be along to answer your question soon but just wanted to say hi ๐Ÿ˜Š Sue
  7. Hi There are some other conversations on the forum that might give you some ideas here ๐Ÿ˜Š
  8. Go for it!!!! You have my blessing with jiggle bells attached ๐ŸŽ… ๐Ÿ’—
  9. We are delighted that they made you smile ๐Ÿ’— All our Love Sue
  10. Hi Juliekb Welcome to the forum ๐Ÿ˜Š Glad you have worked it out but do ask if you have anymore questions. Sue

  12. @louby looshall I try and delete some of the duplicate posts for you?
  13. Happy Friday all. I am going to watch the Olympic opening ceremony later I think...the competitors are arriving down the Seine on boats I think! If you are interested in gymnastics the first 2 parts of the Netflix documentary about Simone Biles is a really interesting watch. The next episodes will be shown in the Autumn after she competes and will chart how she got on. Have fun weekends peoples xxx
  14. That made me smile....my mum often ends up watching old films including Christmas ones when she is fed up of whatever is on offer on the TV. I will suffer through the footie on Saturday evening although I cannot say i am excited about the prospect ..... feel I have to do it though because if I don't watch it I cannot moan about it after the event lol Sunday afternoon if I have done all my chores I plan to sit and watch the British grand prix. My daughter is a big F! fan and has got me dipping in far more often than I used to. I have to get the house ready for the arrival of my grandson next week who is coming to stay with Nanny and Papa. William will be 3 in September so he is at that fab age where everything is exciting and interesting. We have some nice days planned including the sea life centre and Brighton peir so hopefully the weather will be kind. The sandpit (well a builders tray) will be refilled with sand and the golf/cricket/football eqipment will be dusted down ready for use. So as I will be running around like a loon after a toddler next week feel free to use the C word without fear of being sent to the naughty step ๐Ÿ˜†
  15. I hadn't thought about that issue as in a school based nursery might effectively replace/put out of business a local PVI setting but one is full day care and the other term time only. Working families cannot be limited to term time only settings.....trying to cover the holidays especially of you are a single parent is almost impossible. Another issue to overcome. I do, on the other hand think what Helen said above about maybe nursery staff could benefit from better pay and conditions would be a great thing for the workforce.
  16. Hi sunnyday Sun is shining here too...about time lol 3 - 95 - how wonderful...hope you took lots of photos ๐Ÿ’— The football.....hmmm well think Gareth Southgate might have lost the plot. I know players cannot always play were they normally play for their own teams but some of the roles seem a bit bonkers and it's no wonder players are not performing well ๐Ÿฅบ Anyway, have wonderful weekends one and all and hopefully the good weather will last ๐Ÿ™
  17. It is all about balance sunnyday....one side of the basket was salad and antipasti (can't be bothered to cook when he is away) and so the other side was wine and chocolate...Balance! ๐Ÿ˜„
  18. Good morning and all that but can I ask how is it Friday again already????? It seems like 5 minutes ago I read your message last Friday! Needless to say I did not get out on the golf course last Saturday but I did manage a round on Monday in the sun in my shirtsleeves ๐ŸŒž No playing golf for me this weekend but will be mostly walking the dog, pottering around doing a few chores then spending hours watching The Masters from Augusta, Georgia (big golf tournament for those not interested in golf). Hubby left about 10 minutes ago to travel up to Preston to spend the weekend with my son & gorgeous grandson so I have the house all to myself. I went yesterday and brought all my favourites to eat over the weekend and a bag of malteasers might have fallen in the basket next to the wine....these accidents happen but what's a girl to do eh??? Have fun weekends whatever you are up to xx
  19. Such good news about Mr S - hopefully now you can start having some more fun out and about. I too am getting a little tired of soggy spaniel...it has been so wet here that it is even muddy up on the chalk downs that surround us and they drain well but they are just so saturated ๐Ÿ˜ซ I am supposed to be golfing tomorrow but course closed again today as a result of overnight rain....I am wondering if I will ever play golf in 2024!
  20. Oh Gezabel what a cutee ๐Ÿ’™ I am so delighted for you all and sending big virtual hugs ๐Ÿ’™
  21. Did you know there was an International Day of Maths? I must admit, I had no idea. It is on 14th March every year and invites schools and children to celebrate maths around a particular theme. This year the theme is PLAYING WITH MATH. This is so relevant to teaching Maths in the early years, where, as we know and celebrate, the emphasis is on learning through play. Children are exploring mathematical concepts as they line things up, collect things in baskets, role play shopping, make their own playdough, fit things into other things, thread wooden beads, balance on a seesaw, weigh ingredients, fill and pour โ€“ I could go on but the list is so long there really isnโ€™t room. And thatโ€™s before we even mention numbers and counting! Maths is everywhere: The endless possibilities, the excitement, the intricate patterns, the accessibility of Maths is within reach of every very small child. How much does this wonder continue as they grow? At some point, and in England this is pretty early on, children begin to learn more formal mathematical concepts. They begin to see Maths as having a right or wrong answer. Does Maths lose its magic then? Do some children become anxious about Maths around this time? โ€˜Maths Anxietyโ€™ is a recognised and worrying issue. According to an Ipsos MORI poll commissioned by Shirley Conran of The Maths Anxiety Trust in 2018, 23% of parents of children aged between 5-15 report that their eldest child often feels anxious when attempting to solve a maths problem. The Maths Anxiety Trust says the key is to make sure children understand one concept before they move onto another. They need to explore, experiment, play with a mathematical idea before it becomes embedded and they are ready to move onto the next one, whatever age they are: Maths knowledge is built like a skyscraper; each new brick is built on the last brick. If one brick is left out at the bottom, the skyscraper might wobble or crashโ€ฆ So make sure your child understands one new idea, before moving on to the next new idea. (Maths Anxiety Trust). In England, the Maths curriculum moves fast. It gallops along. And the challenge for every teacher is to cover the curriculum while giving children that all-important space to really understand each concept. Do the children in your early years or key stage class have time to embed their maths skills? As Shirley Conran says: Whatever you plan to do โ€ฆ you will need to use Everyday maths EVERY DAY. Because Maths is Everywhere, whether you are 6 or 60. By Jules FSF and Tapestry Education Group
  22. Well it was chucking it down this morning but currently there is some sunshine.....shhhh don't say it too loud I don't want to frighten it away ๐Ÿ˜† The few daffoldils that had been brave enough to show themselves in my garden are looking very sad as they have been battered by wind and rain โ˜น๏ธ Good luck to Mr S next week....we will be keeping everything crossed for him. My hubby flew off to Turkey today for a weeks golfing with his mates so I have the house and the television all to myself ๐ŸŽ‰ I have a weekend of dog walking and rubbish telly planned and because I am a bit weird I am also planning to jet wash the patio....I love jet washing the patio and seeing it go from mossy brown back to the nice light stone that it actually is. Hope whatever things you get up to over the weekend you have fun and stay dry. Sue xx
  23. PJ's, books, duvets and pizza - that sounds like a perfect day for me ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ’—
  24. Hi sunnyday I am shocked to report it is a sunny day here for the first time this week I think. Gosh I am sick of the rain and wind....we had rain and wind yesterday โ˜น๏ธ Had a good week thank you ..... drama free ... that's how I measure a good week these days lol I have a weekend of dog walking and some decorating in prospect so busy but should be fun as long as the rain doesn't make a return visit ๐Ÿคž Hope you have a good weekend whatever you are up to xx
  25. I hope you are enjoying your retirement....I am a bit jealous but I have a few more years to do yet ๐Ÿ™ƒ Extra special wishes to you Sue x
