I havent watched it for years.
The last time I saw any part of it was when the Finnish group wearing masks won. I thought it was fab that someone other than a bland nothingness won.
In my opinion its the biggest waste of TV time ever to be expended, its very existance is trying to promote the Eurozone and to give Euro fat cats a reason for being and thus Brussels a reason to exist. The fact that Jedward are on is enough for me to not watch it, even for a laugh.
I couldnt stand the sanctamonious, waffling, drivel ridden, pompous Terry Wogan either.
So in answer to the question 'love it or loath it, on balance and after a great deal of reflection, bearing in mind I dont watch talent shows or celebrity shows due to the inane acts that we are subjected to, I would have to say I probably loath it.

Congratulations to everyone.
My mom reckons grandchildren are the best because you can give them back!

Nothing to add Sazz, just wanted to say 'I feel your pain'.

The relief is lovely isnt it. Well done

Have you tried the resource library? You might be able to find things in the growing topic or the topic on Ourselves.

Chinese proverb...
See and forget
Hear and remember
Do and understand
Any good?

I hope they can be rescued too. We often hear of the decline in bees, you'd think there'd be a law against killing them wouldnt you?

My mom said something similar the other day. A friend of the family died recently aged 75. Dad's 71 and started worrying about dying and leaving mom. She told dad 'I'll be fine, Gra will look after me, he'll never see me in need and never ask for a penny for shopping or anything'. Gra is my hubby and I thought it was lovely that she knew she could rely on him so completly.
Now the hope is that my lads look after me in the same way and that they're ponly joking about the old folks home up the road!

I've worked with a Maximus Decimus Meridius and a Gruff.
Think about your baby as a teenager!

My friend gave me a survival kit that included a rubber band to keep things together, a marble for when I lose mine, a penny so I would never be caught short and a piece of chocolate for emergencies.

Many happy returns

I'd agree with Nona, both our boys had theIr names changed when we saw them. Sam was going to be Lewis and Richard was going to be Robert, but they didnt look like Lewis or Robert soap decision was made with the help of the midwife who ummd and arrd and finally said yes thats nice.
Good luck and dont forget to look at the final initials too, just check they dont spell ASS or PIG or some sych horrendous combination!

We use a password but its not on the forms, its just whatever the main carer tells us Uncle Frank will use when he collects at the end of the session. If anyone else arrives and doesnt know the password we phone to check.

Did any of yours receive an enhanced NBU form to fill in after they'd sent off the EY2 form?
I'd not come across it before. It asks if they want to be checked for ISA too.
-
From the first day I was chair I've signed the CRB forms with no comment from Ofsted about the length of time I've been chair.
The forms we most recently sent in were the EY2. the committee members then received a letter with another form Enhanced NBU which I have to sign to say I've seen proof the person is who they say they are. I cant recall what proof was acceptable but ours gave driving licences and passports.

Gosh, it sounds like the school are giving up on him doesnt it?
I certainly wouldnt leave a child with food from lunch all round their face all afternoon. What they pick up after that is different, but after lunch I'd want the children to wash and be ready to start play. How is he getting so dirty?
Something seems amiss if the bus escort and driver have worries.
Are his parents able to stand their ground? You know what I mean? Some people fall to pieces when they speak to teachers, too many memories of being a pupil themselves! I hope you can help them.

I'm really lucky to have staff who have been involved at the playgroup for years as parents or committee so they all understand how it works, otherwise I'd worry about them leaving. I know 3 years ago council NNs were on £9.00 an hour!!!

Our staff had one last year but as of this morning when I saw the most recent bank statement I've been thinking staff might even have to have a wage cut. They are currently paid for 4 hours a week paperwork so that might have to go. I hate the idea though. Its not as if they are paid much anyway

We were told the same as you some years ago but I cant remember if it was Ofsted or an LA advisr.
Our children come in, self register and then get a book on the mat where staff are sitting, while everyone else arrives. After aformal register they are told what activities are available that day, have aquick chat if something is mentioned and then play.
The Ofsted inspector in Dec. thought the children have too much formal sitting, register, snack, circle time, so I suggested to the playleader that they come in and just play. She said when they used to do that the parents didnt get chance to say goodbye because they were off playing and it was more difficult to check everyone had arrived and stayed not followed mom through the door in all the bustle. Staff want to keep it too, they like the meeting at the mats and the small group chats as everyone is getting a seat and choosing a book.
It works for us and our parents, although I do recall when I worked there having the children go straigh to play and I know it worked well.
You could always try it for the last half term.

NO!!!
Oh my!
Who the heck can I compare notes with as chair?
I've learnt loads from you Suzie. I'll miss your thoughts, ideas and your knowledge aswell as your empathy and humour.
Have a wondeful time abroad and if you get time, please tell me how to be an ex chair. A postcard will do, you can send it to:
The Chair,
(the frazzled looking woman with no delegation skills),
Usually in front of a computer,
Next to the pile of invoices to be written,
Under the pile of people to phone regarding new starters,
With the list of jobs to be done last week,
Birmingham.

Thanks Melba, but I did all that when I vacumed it.
If your hubby is looking confused I have no hope really untill I get to the computer man. Looks like more money!

Typical that this should happen at bank holiday when the shop I need is shut!
Our electric had to be switched off yesterday for about 15 minds. I didnt think to shut down the PC properly but when the power was back on the PC started up but the monitor and keyboard wont start! The screen shows the monitor logo and then I get a small screen saying 'power saving mode' but then blank with the on/off switch flashing like its on standby.
Can anyone shed any light on why this might have happened? I've vacumed it and had it on all night waiting for something to happen and also switched it off for ages. Still nothing.
Help

Prom night round here last night too. Stretch Humbies, fake tans, corsages, nail extensions. Luckily I dont have girls and my lads proms were a few years ago.
She looks lovely Nona. Your baby's gone but you have a lovely young lady instead.
Or...your baby's gone but you have a teenager who's feeling older than she is, who will want to go out later and later, who will at one time or another come home drunk, who will, if you're lucky, throw up in the toilet, and who will need more and more money for essentials like nail varnish, lipgloss and music. She'll bring boys home that you cant stand and take over your sofa in the process.
Welcome to the world of the teenage girl. Enjoy it because it wont last long. She will eventually work hard, get her qualfications, get a job, leave home, find the right man or woman and settle down and in 10 years time present you with a grandchild that you can tell all its mothers secrets to.
I actually think I prefer these teenage yeas better than the baby, toddler and child years.
I've edited because I've just read missblix post.. My 20 year old failed his first year of A level (sciences) so restarted with completly different subjects (history, psycology and something). He went to Uni (product design) but only stayed the first year because he changed his mind about his subject. He's spent the last year in a part time job he hates trying to decide what to do. History degree was decided on but now he's enrolled at the local college to do plumbing and gas work so he can join the family business which he's still not sure about. Just keep smilng
