  1. Any thoughts on County Lines advice/informaton. Asking for a friend (honestly!!) who was quizzed in detail about the signs of concerns for preschool children relating to county lines. I understand there could be a safeguarding issue for a young chilld who has family members involved in such activity. My friend has been asked to have printed information for a staff notice board - struggling to find relevant information when we are talking about such young children. I am horrified to read children as young as 7 can be co erred into this !
  2. Well i didn't know i was but i have had a rubbish week which has been obliterated by a FaceTime call from my 3 yr old Grandson. For over 4o mins i have enjoyed some wooden biscuits "They are chocolate and vanilla Granny" and the very best cappuccino 'it's REALLY, REALLY frothy." But the best bit "Granny, I have a special calendar and when i go to bed i put a sticker on the day. When i get to the end then it's the day I am coming to have a sleepover at your house" Thank goodness for grandchildren they are amazing !
  3. Definitely money well spent - I'm going for the slap it all over tonight!
  4. So glad it's not just me! Got hubby to check the jar for any mention of feet🤣
  5. Tried for the first time last night. `although i can't say i am a big girl sleeping through the night yet i did sleep much better and didn't wake anything like as often as i normally do. One thing intrigues me, the instructions say about massaging in the skin but doesn't mention feet so I am curious about that????
  6. Me too due to be delivered today!
  7. Is it just me that thinks it will cause a shortage of childcare places? Ar my small preschool, if the number of children claiming 30 hours increases, the effect will be less children on roll and being unable to accept new children. I have looked at our current situation with children leaving for school this Summer and our new intake for September. If the children returning in September increased to 30 hours we would not be able to accept anything like our planned intake :-((
  8. He does then in a 20 cm square tin. He has done double the recipe but just used two 20 cm tins. (Only because i don't have a big tray bake tin!)
  9. HUGE congratulations you must be absolutely thrilled to bits ,
  10. oops forgot to say he does not put the toblerone in. He doesn't add any extra chocolate to compensate either !
  11. https://www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/c/chocolate-chunk-brownies.html
  12. I can't make brownies for love nor money but hubby makes the most amazing ones. He always get compiments on them. The recipe is from a waitrose card picked up in store.
  13. If i was shouting from the rooftops recently then today i think i am sobbing quietly in a corner somewhere. Having shared our exciting news about my daughter-in-law's IVF pregnancy it is with a breaking heart i am updating you with the worst possible news. The pregnancy ended in a miscarriage a few days ago - we are distraught.
  14. Thank you all soooo much for your reactions. Latest bloods are 100% where they want them to be so all good xx
  15. Hellooooooooo down there! can you see me up here on the rooftops? I am about to shout as loud as I possible can ...... The last six years have been a tough ride for one of my sons and his wife. they have been travelling the gruelling road of IVF and it has been such a journey. Sadly a successful IVF treatment ended in a vey early miscarriage :-(((( They took time to heal physically and emotionally and today they have been to tell us that the latest round has been a success. They are now 11 weeks pregnant and the Dr's are exceedingly happy and positive. She is being given the very best of care and being seen weekly. We have everything crossed for the outcome we have all hoped for so very long. Yep blinded by tears as i type i cannot express what this truly means but i know you lovely lot will understand. :-)
  16. Same here. Talked at length with Mrs O about planning. what we do and why but not once did she even hint at seeing written plans or next steps.
  17. ooh1 please can i join the old and bitter club. Pretty please i can bring drinks and cakes :-)
  18. Sending huge hugs at such a difficult time for you and your family. I am sure you have numerous happy memories of a wonderful Dad and hope these will be a source of strength and comfort x
  19. My grandson's nursery has been closed all week not enough staff to open. Sadly they are too far away for me to be any help - nightmare all round.
  20. Huge congratulations Panders to you and your family. Nothing quite like the arrival of a grandchild x
  21. We were inspected a couple of weeks ago. The inspector was very complimentary about our snack provision. It's not exactly a 'rolling snack' in the true sense of the word more a 'window of opportunity'. The 'snack bar' is open for half an hour during which time children are free to decide whether they want to eat/drink. The inspector commented on how well it worked and how is supported children's independent skills. What has delighted me is i have seen learning taking place that perhaps i wouldn't have seen otherwise. The conversations/ supporting each other - the list goes on.
  22. Ah! it's not just me then! I have four sons very close in age (all born within 4 1/2 years) Yesterday (and i KNOW it was only yesterday) I had four teenagers. We have now just had a big family party for my third son's 40th - that means i only have one son left in his 30s. How can they go from a teenager to a 40+ overnight?!!
  23. I think it's perfectly OK to have a wobble :-) I am having a few at the thought of retiring. I got my state pension earlier this year but am still working full time. I thought about it last year but thought 'just another year' so maybe the end of the academic year in 2022 will be the end of my career in early years which started in the mid 1970s. You have my admiration for making the decision and seeing it through and yes I too, envy you quieter pace of life. Those flower arranging class sound soooo inviting - I have upholstery classes in mind for when i finally stop working. one day at a time i guess and enjoy every second.
  24. We have a lot of those huge story books and am looking for a 'good' storage solution. Would be grateful for any ideas - they are currently in a rack but it's not doing a good job and the books are bending/flopping!
