Ours is part of our terms and conditions Deb. I have just attached these to Mary's post about contracts if you want to have a look at them.

In our pre-school we ask parents to give one months notice.

Our paperwork says that we will charge parents who fail to give his notice, but in reality most people are really good, infact very few leave once they have started so its not really a problem.

I have had to charge parents in the past for leaving without notice. However it is hard to get money out of them once they have left! :o

We charge 2 weeks notice period which they can attend or not, but we take this as a deposit now when they first start. They must also pay weekly or monthly in advance so they are always paid up.

In the past we have had people leave owing hundreds and unless we take them to court which will cost more than the time is worth then there is no way of getting them back.

Just catching up - we ask for a month's notice. If no money received send letter stating if they have received funding through the working tax credit or any other then it is our duty to advise of non-payment of fees.
