Lucy P Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Hi Does anyone know of a suitable poem that can be used for fathers day presents? I know this is really last minute but only returned from my holiday today to find that gifts haven't been made yet I wouldn't normally worry but we did lovely handprint poems including photographs of the children with painty hands for mothers day and feel bad for leaving out the dads!! I would be most grateful for any ideas. Thanks very much
Guest Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 This one is quite nice with footprints “Walk a little slower daddy/mummy/granddad etc.,” said the child so small. “I’m following in your footsteps and I don’t want to fall. Sometimes your steps are very fast, Sometimes they’re hard to see; So walk a little slower, Daddy For you are leading me. Someday when I’m all grown up, You’re what I want to be; Then I will have a little child Who’ll want to follow me. And I would want to lead just right, And know that I was true; So walk a little slower, Daddy, For I must follow you.”
Guest Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 How beautiful. shame more fathers don't feel that as fathers they have a big part to play in their child's life. Breought a tear to my eye as so many fathers don't understand what they are missing

SmileyPR Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Oh, I read a very similar one in these days and I just started to cry, thinking of my dad who lives so far away. Thanks for sharing it.
Guest Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Here are some others: Daddy I Love you Daddy, I love you For all that you do. I'll kiss you and hug you 'Cause you love me, too. You feed me and need me To teach you to play, So smile 'cause I love you On this Father's Day. "Dad, Thank You." Thank you for the laughter, For the good times that we share, Thanks for always listening, For trying to be fair. Thank you for your comfort, When things are going bad, Thank you for the shoulder, To cry on when I'm sad. This poem is a reminder that All my life through, I'll be thanking Heaven For a Special Dad like you."
