Also need big amounts of bicarbonate of soda - small pots wont be enough, I dont think these children have used it so I'm expecting to need loads, and cheaply. Thanks folks

Rea Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 The teat pipets are for finger work to use in the water play and for use with watered down paint for dripping. The bicarb I add to a table containing pots of flour, water, lemon juice, tea leaves, cornflour, rice (whatever I can get my hands on) and allow the children to mix as they want. The bicarb reacts lovley with the lemon juice (or vinegar). The children dont get to do much messy play. Just paint available in 3 colours on a table top. The children mostly tell me they 'cant do it' whenever I suggest something and I feel they dont have enough opportunities for experimenting.
Deb Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 We did something similar a few weeks ago, the children added vinegar to the bicarb in their own little pots and watched as the 'volcanoes' spilled over the top. Would be interested in bulk purchasing of bicarb too as one pot went just like that.

I used to smile sweetly at the Head of Science at our local one, and a few pippettes came my way After all you are putting in the foundations of science and these high schools are supposed to link with the community. Otherwise most educational suppliers sell them in bulk - not as quick though.
