Registers - why can only managers add an absence?

I'd like to understand the reasoning for only allowing managers to record an absence on the registers? All our staff sign children in and out but because they can't add an absence, it has to be done later by a manager's profile. If a manager isn't immediately available to log in, it means that a child's status is 'unrecorded' on the app and when later reviewing attendance, it isn't possible to see who actually was notified and recorded the absence.

Thank you for your feedback.

As Extras and Absences are accessed via a manager-only area of the Management System, when the Online Register was later introduced this staff type based permission was carried over making it possible for only managers to add absences.

However, based on customer requests, we are now looking at the possibility of changing this. So I have passed on your request for this, and if we introduce the ability for staff to add absences via the Online Register we'll be in touch to let you know.

For the meantime, staff members can add notes on the Online Register noting the absence for a manager to then add in.

Hi @Tweetinat,

I am getting back in touch to let you know that Full Staff users and 'PIN' only staff users can now add absences through the register!

Registers are available on the browser and on both Android and IOS devices. I have attached some guides for support below:

  1. Using the Online Register for children on the Android app
  2. Using the Online Register on the iOS app
  3. Online Register for children
