debstephens Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Hello everyone Just looking for a bit of advice. Pre - covid we didn't allow hot drinks in the rooms , ratios allowing staff could nip to the staff room for a hot drink. Now however (we are still working in bubbles and usually on ratio) with the cold weather upon us, freeflow to the outside and windows remaining open the staff are asking if we will allow them to have hot drinks in the room, in a suitable lidded cup. I just wondered how the rest you deal with this. Debbie Quote
finleysmaid Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 we do but not in lidded cups as it super heats and keeps hot for longer. We are incredibly careful with them and they go on our windowsills which are well out of childrens reach! but to be honest you have to make your own mind up. I know i can do it safely but you would have to risk assess it for your building/cohort. 1 Quote
nomski100 Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I do allow the staff to use the flask like cups with a screw on lid. Do not allow the pop on lids as if they drop they still open. 1 Quote
Stargrower Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 We allow hot drinks in the room which go on a shelf out of the reach of children. Staff are very careful. They have to go to the drink not sit down with it or wander round. We carry hot drinks from the kitchen in a washing up bowl, so that if the person carrying them trips/spills, the drinks spill into the bowl not onto the floor or onto a child! 1 Quote
