Becoming an Ofsted inspector

Recommended Posts

I did attend training several years ago, when Tribal had the contract, so I'm not sure how much would have changed. I'd really get to know the statutory framework and the inspection handbook very well indeed- think about the differences between a childminder setting and a nursery/preschool, too. I'd also read as many reports since September as you can, so you get a feel for what inspectors are looking for and the type of language they use in reports- and also read my articles here, if you like! I read 100 reports and summarised the main features. :D

During the training, you'll probably watch quite a few video clips and then write down what you've seen, starting to make judgements based on the inspection handbook. You might want to practice that a couple of times in your own setting. Good luck!
