Froglet Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hello all, Not strictly an Early Years question but does anyone know what the thresholds are for persistent absence in schools are? I know I should know but can't remember and I have googled but it's clearly one of those things you need to use the exact words for and I'm not. I'm going to a meeting on Thursday and we'll be looking at attendance amongst other things. I've been sent some figures for absences for particular children and know they are all below the threshold (or I wouldn't have the figures) but am trying to figure out how significantly below if that makes any sense. Thank you! Quote
finleysmaid Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 not sure if this is an LA thing but think it 85% here.....may have gone up since my daughter was at school though! Quote
Froglet Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Thanks. 85% rang a bell with me too but the figures I have are all more than that which is what made me wonder if it had gone up. My own school is having a major push on attendance and anything below 95% is looked at but that may be because it's been an issue in the past. Quote
finleysmaid Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I found the rules but it does appear to say that the LEA sets the levels . Quote
catma Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I think it is now set by the Dfe at 10% - it was 15% until September 15. Your info on the school census would give you details. Cx 1 Quote
