Did you make anything to display? we have translation lists up and a welcome poster made using the languages used in the setting. There are some words I use regularly so have learnt these like wait and soon and hello. Also really useful are words for items of clothing...especially hat....the polish are obsessed with hats! :rolleyes: :lol: :lol: Our ofsted recommendation was to add more eal labels in to the setting....tricky when the children don't read! :blink: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However the best resource is adults who talk with the children and model language in context. They have language, just not English so it's important to ensure the children feel that they can contribute when they are ready.
