Guest Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 how do people do their fire drills when checking children at the end, do you count them or call their names for them to answer ? Quote
Rea Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 We do both and then we count them back inside too incase any have wandered off :1b Quote
woodlands1997 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 One counts, another takes register - children are encouraged to answer in a nice loud voice so we know they are here and say about importance of only saying in response to their name etc! To be fair they are all really good :-) we do them at least once a month so they're all really used to it x Quote
Panders Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Same as woodlands and so we know who has missed one on the register I colour in the column on that day so that we can see who needs to be in next time we do one Edited April 30, 2014 by Panders Quote
Guest SamG Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 We had an unplanned fire drill yesterday when we burnt the toast for snack and it set the smoke alarm off! Children were fantastic. We called their names, they all answered then we counted them before we went back and again once we were back inside. Quote
Fredbear Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Same as Woodlands1997, except we do them once a half term for every session (6), noting if any child has missed it due to absence. We also conduct them with different staff, so we ensure everybody is confident if this arose. Children are fantastic, Quote
