narnia Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/about_ikea/newsroom/product_recalls/........................ I know many of us have these in book corners etc, so you might want to rethink them. My apologies if this has been posted before, but I do think it's important 2 Quote
SueJ Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Thanks Narnia - I thankfully don't have this one but checked it out just in case it was the leaf canopy which is wasn't. Quote
finleysmaid Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 i have some of these from another company....i wonder what the issue is? Quote
Inge Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I think having it over a bed at night time and the chance of getting caught up in it while asleep is a different risk to that when it is used in a supervised way when child is awake for a use other than originally intended.. maybe do a risk assessment .. taking the risk into account.. the same risk could be applied to lots of items in daily use in a setting.. we had lengths of cloth for tent making , scarves , some sari material for dressing up..blankets all could have the same risk if used inappropriately.. I think the key here is the over a bed/ sleeping child / unsupervised... 3 Quote
narnia Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Of course supervision is the key. Sadly, this doesn't awlays happen, though Ikea are sayig they have had no reported incidents. Just thought a reminder and heads up was a good idea, but nothing beats good supervision Quote
