who runs themselves?

ok so looking at recent threads about the cost of DBS checks rising and the problems with charity commission and getting committee's to stand can I ask how many out there, as a staffing team runs themselves? and is the process better than having a committee or do you find you miss the support? how much extra work is it?

I run as a business. No charity status or committee. Just me!

We do we are a workers co-op we prefer it. It can and does mean lots of work especially at the start . All of the reasons you gave in your post gave us that push the only thing we really miss is a good fundraising committee.

Sue did you change from being a charity? If so, how did you do it?

I'm a sole trader, no committee, no charity status. But its always been that way, I didn't change from committee run, so probably can't help.

I wondered how we could change I know on the other thread there is something about being a community group but it is just weighing up the pros and cons and how much extra work it would be.

Hi Melba we have never had charity status but we are not for profit some funding implications but not many. If we close any monies left have to be given to another co-op.

Well in theory we are committee run but in practise we are staff run- really would like to change this.
