JacquieL
There is a lovely book called The Journey by Neil Griffiths which you an get in big book format. It is about a boy whose toy boat is washed away and travels to sea. At the end of the story he finds it at the seaside. There is so much you can do around this book and it can lead on to talking about different kinds of boats and travelling. I suppose it depends why you are covering boats, and what you are hoping the children will be learning. Is this a theme they have shown an interest in?
