Deb
We're a pre-school with our core hours from 9-12.00 and 12.00- 3pm with lunch part of the afternoon session. We also offer extended day care from 8-9 am and 3-4 pm (or 5 pm subject to demand). Previously we used to finish at 3.30 pm. Children generally finish their lunch between 12.30 and 1 pm. We are then rushing at the end of the session to give them a snack at 2.30 officially but in practice at about 2.40 pm just before they go home but I am wondering if we need to offer them a snack then. I am wondering whether we should just provide the children at after school club with a snack at 3.15? What do others do?
kristina
We run same type of sessions as you 9-12 & 12-3 with lunch in the afternoon session, we don't offer snack in the afternoon just make sure there is milk and water available for a drink. We would be hard pushed to provide afternoon snack as generally parents begin picking up from 2.30 onwards. Kris
Guest
we offer same sessions as you, we don't give snack in the afternoon, we just make sure they have access to water and we have a fruit bowl on the side which they can help themselves to.. Panders
I think that's what I would do if we were open those hours, make sure they know it's there if they want it, and that they can have a drink, but nothing formal
currycraver
Yes i would do the same if we had similar hours. Children potentially will have had reasonable lunches. So if u can offer drinks i would think that would be fine. Have you asked the children. Do you have snack all together.
