Hello

I’m looking for suggestions on hello and goodbye songs for a nursery class. Also could you tell me what tune they sung too?

Thought it would be great to begin and end a session properly. .

Thank you

Sarah

Morning ______, Morning _________, Morning _________, Morning _________,

It's very nice to see you, It's very nice to see you, at school today, school today.

To the tune of Frère Jacques.

Again best done in a circle.

We sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as our goodbye song.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

How I wonder what you are

Up above the world so high

Like a diamond in the sky

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

How I wonder what you are

It's time to say goodbye (wave both hands)

It's time to say goodbye (wave both hands)

Goodbye (wave left hand)

Goodbye (wave right hand)

Goodbyeeee (wave both hands)

At the end of the day the children are used to be asked what songs they would like to sing and they always picked this as the last song, so we use it all the time now. This works well with 2-4 year dols, but would work with other ages too.

'Good Morning,Scarlet

good morning Scarlet

good morning Scarlet, and how are you today?'

Goodbye Scarlet...etc....did you have fun today?

to the tune of 'football crazy'............................which shows how old I am! We introduced this very recently and all the children enjoy joining in.....parents are also telling us that their children are singing it at home, which is lovely!'

To the tune of farmers in his den:

It's time to say hello

It's time to say hello

E I ally oh

It's time to say Hello

It's time to clap our hands

It't time to clap our hands

E I ally oh

It's time to clap our hands

It's time to tap our Knees

it's time to tap our knees

E I Ally oh

It's time to tap our knees

then children keep their hands on their knees ready for registration - does seem to focus them.

Same tune with similar words can be adapted for goodbye song

Hello, hello it's nice to see you

Hello, hello, it's nice to see you

I must say, you've made my day,

helllo, hello, hello.

I try to make eye contact with each child as we sing it, and we all wave to eacxh other.

At the end of teh day we sing it again but replace word hello with goodbye.

To get to know names we sing:

[All sit in a circle, I hold some kind of toy]

Itsy Bitsy bumble bee

Won't you say your name to me

[ Throw toy to a child]

[child says] My name is....

[All say] Hello .....

Sing again, this time that child throws toy to another, that child then says her name and we all say hello back.

There's Fred and Victoria and William and Kate

With jodie and Ruby and jeremy and Kyle (Rpt till you have gone round the circle)
