narnia
Don't know if this applies to every Sainsbury's, but we have just bought some fabulous woven baskets in our local branch! Three nesting ones, all good sizes, very sturdy, original price was £30, and they are down to £7.50 for the set of three........an absolute bargain! I had been looking at replacing the plastic tubs in our 9 hole unit with wicker baskets and the only ones i could find to fit were going to cost in excess of £130, but I bought 9 sets of the sainsbury's baskets for £67.50 and so have not only replaced the plastic, but now have loads of lovely baskets all round the room with resources easily to hand. ( We've made one of them into a 'treasure chest', full of beads, necklaces, bangles etc', for our pirates to haul around!)The baskets also have hand holds on two sides, so children can pick them up themselves, or with a friend. They also smell quite nice, as they are made from lotus leaves. One of my mums saw them and commented 'oh, been to John Lewis have you? I just bought one of those'.......she had paid £20 for ONE basket! Anyway, if your branch has them, I can recommend them......and I got my nectar points too! narnia
No, just had a look at their website, and they're not on there, but it did make me realsie they are made of water hyacinth leaves , not lotus ones. maybe they are just in some branches, but they were part of their 75% off range ( we also bought two shoe racks, nice pine ones to store our wellies on, for £2.50 each, down from £10. We must just have been lucky, I guess.
Guest
They should get you to sort out the spending review, Narnia. I'm always amazed at how thrifty early years practitioners are!
