Guest
I just wanted to ask a question, i am currently implementing the SEF, and have managed to break it down for all the staff, but i have come to a hault with Part B section i) the effectiveness with which your setting deploys rescources!! I have looked in the guidance and doesnt really help that much, as was wondering if anyone can help. Many Thanks
Guest
Your resources obviously include all the physical things, such as toys, blocks, tools, etc. but also think about staff as a resource, and then how you deploy them, i.e. how you make sure their time is used most effectively in terms of their interactions with the children/parents, etc. Other resources would be the spaces you have, indoor, outdoor, storage. Also displays. Hope that helps.
eyfs1966
I agree with you Miss Red, I also found that section very difficult, and feel that what I wrote was more BS rather than anything enlightening for the inspector. It goes back to the old adage of "ask a silly question, then expect a silly answer". I know that someone somewhere must have done a great deal of work in designing the SEF, but somehow it seems to fail in the detail. I do think much more comprehensive guidance notes would be helpful. sunnyday
Hi I split this into two sections - Human Resources - so all about staff, their qualifications, CRB checks, roles, adult:child ratios, roles of SENCO, Child Protection coordinator, H&S coordinator (named persons), details about Key Person roles, working closely with other professionals...... Physical Resources - We are committed to providing an enabling environment etc.etc. , budget for purchase of new equipment etc.etc. Does that help at all? Helen
Great answers so far. I think you could include: * How staff are clear about what their duties are * Risk assessments and safety checks * how you use the environment to its best advantage, maybe through free-flow play, using all the rooms and outside areas? Guest
If you're in a voluntary setting (or private as well I suppose) you could talk about how you deploy the money you have. For instance, for us our staffing costs are more than we get from funding, but that is a conscious decision about the importance of high staff/children ratios, if you see what I mean. Guest
MissRed - if it's any use I posted my SEF (the new version) on the exemplar SEF thread (post 148) and you can see that I split the resources into human, physical and sustainability. Feel free to have a look and make use of anything in there that may apply to your setting. http://www.foundation-stage.info/forums/in...7716&st=135 RR Edited February 8, 2010 by Guest
