We looking into setting up a book library at our pre-school, would you mind if I pinched some ideas from your leaflet? (I really like the poem!)

That's lovely!

I often ask my children - 'who reads to you at home' - they are very lucky children - they all get read to! :o

not at all thank you and please feel free to use whatever you want. I loved the poem as well and felt it summed the process up.

This is my 'play recipe' on stories, in case it is useful. I have a series of these which I print onto A5 capier card and have them available for parents.

Sunnyday- How lucky are your children to all be read to - I wish the children where I live were that lucky!

I was just reading today about the lack of speech and understanding of instruction that children have now compared to 20 years ago. It was articles from various newspapers and magazines over the years (03/04 mostly) on the Literacy web site.
