Anyone Recommend What Type Of Mobile Phone I Should Buy?

Evening all!!

I know what you are thinking "Why does spud want advice about a mobile phone??" :o

Here's the thing - I have a samsung G600 and a memory card with almost 300 songs on it!! Do I buy another samsung in the hope that the memory card fits it and I keep my songs and if so, what samsung do I get?

or

Do I go for a nokia 5800 express music??

I know it seems trivial, but I would use my mobile before I would use my landline and have been using it as my mp3 player and it has got me through some hard times lately!!

I figure that if I am renewing my contract, I may as well get a new phone out of it aswell!!

Also if anyone has got any great deals lately or has a phone that works well for them, feel free to advise!

I understand that there are people who just use them to talk and dont feel lost without them, but I'm afraid I dont go anywhere without mine and before anybody asks, I dont check it every 10 seconds to see if I have a text, I only touch it when necessary, its like my comfort blanky, with a labelly!! xD:(

Your memory card will fit into any samsung phone, and for that matter any phone that has a memory card slot... Presuming it's the same one. There's a few types of memory cards so you'll have to check which one you've got and which one the other phone has!

I go through phones at a stupid rate, but I only ever seem to buy phones that are discontinued. So I don't think I can be much help really!

My OH has just bought this phone for our daughter's 16th birthday next Sunday. It certainly seems popular as she got down on her knees to beg for it, did the hoovering, dusted & polished my furniture to within an inch of it's life........just to make sure she'd get it!!! xD

No idea what it looks like though or what it does so can't advise I'm afraid. I only have phones to call and text.......anything else is too confising!! :o

Now you've confuddled me with your talk of confising! :o

As has been said, memory cards are standard and interchangeable but there are lots of different types of memory cards about. :(

iphones are beautiful if you can afford it! I also love sony ericssons - my last 3 have all been different versions of them - but it really depends what you want from them.

I've just swapped a Sony Ericsson W590i for an LG Cookie (ooh, get me - sounds as if I know what I'm talking about! xD )

Ericsson phone has been in for repair 4 times since Xmas and still kept switching itself off whenever it felt like it :(

Memory card from that doesn't fit my new phone but my lovely 14 year old daughter has transferred info to laptop and then onto my new phone.

Now the Cookie - it's pink (not my first choice!) touch screen and has a "pokey stick" (stylus?) to tap in text etc. 3 days in and it's driving me NUTS!!!

Everyone assures me that touchscreen is the way to go and I'll get used to it, several phone shops have said the newer phones are all moving away from keypads. I looked at lots before making my choice and some of the keypads were SO small it was almost impossible to use them. I have occasional mobility problems with my fingers and sometimes struggle with small detail - these were beyond me. God help anyone with rheumatism or arthritis in their hands.

However, the Cookie does have a lovely big, clear screen and the 3mp camera is great! I use it a lot when out and about with the kids and it's really easy to print off photos from the memory card.

Happy shopping for your new phone - I think I've spent less time choosing a car :o

Made me feel (almost!) nostalgic for my first Motorola flip-phone - about the size of a housebrick and a choice of just making or taking calls :(

iPhones and Sony Ericssons all the way! I have had to replace mine as it was 3 years old and I went and dropped it and split the screen xD I bought a Samsung J700i as an interim measure until I can get the new iPhone out in late Aug/Sept. Although I have only had it 5 days, I would do anything to swap it back to the Sony - the text isn't as smooth and clear, it takes ages to sort out distribution for texts and then only displays numbers (oh the potential there for wrong text to wrong person ...) and I hate the feel of the keypad it really sets my teeth off (think nail on blackboard). :o

Also one tip I was given by the chap on the phone at O2 was to check out shop prices vs. internet prices - he said that the shop prices are cheaper! Who would have thought! Also worth comparing deals between the Network and shops which sell all network phones - can be useful to bargain with your network provider!

Happy shopping!

must admit my son swears by Sony Ericssons too, and he uses it all the time for his music etc.. he did have a touch screen phone etc but returned to his sony, but the big problem is they have their own memory cards which are totally different to any others, not a problem for him as he tends to use one all the time.

I have his old one and it is lovely for texts with a large screen and the card stores a lot of pics and music., It is an older larger model but had to return to it after my debarcle with a washing machine :o

(Seems our phones are destined for water as he dropped his in a rock pool while climbing a cliff collecting rocks, and the next one he lost overboard when on going on board a ship at Liverpool Docks. Luckily he insures his being an adrenaline junkie)

I would go into a shop and ask.. even if you don't buy/ upgrade there.. and if upgrading we got a really great deal by saying we were closing the account...cheaper monthly bill for more calls and a better phone upgrade too.
