We often chose a Christmas book and used that to base a song time on.. someone narrated by reading the story and the children would sing songs at appropriate points .. with dressing up as the characters in the book if possible.. or if not christmassy ones...

we have done Shh Santa and several others in this way.. worked well for us too as not much to do except learn a few songs and rhymes.. we had one for parents to join in and think we did a circle song somewhere..

Last christmas, the children learn't a few (about 5) short christmas songs and we also taught them to sign to twinkle, twinkle little star, they did really well and picked it up really quickly, a lot quicker than some of the staff! We did have a lot of older children though - lots 4 or coming up, don't know if younger children could have coped.
