Did they say why you can't use EYE and Nursery World? I used both and newspaper articles (which I feel highlighted how current my topic was), providing I used recent publications of course. My college were hot on using recent and new ideas as well as backing it up with well established theories.

Don't give up on EYE though, aan - they are very good at giving you the references for the publications they refer to. Really good for going to the primary source!

BIDS ISI Data service provides bibliographic data and full text services for higher education and research.

Ask ERIC provides abstracts and rull text documents related to education and has specialist early childhood collection.

This is taken form Doing early childhood research (MacNaughton, Rolfe & Siraj-Blatchford 2001)

thanks wendles will give it a go.

we was told not to use EYE etc as they were not reliable enough. i think they change the goal posts to suit themselves!

feeling very dispondant, have been doing my job for 20 years and i'm sure knowing the difference between Qualitative and quantitative is not going to make a difference. anyway moan over back to the books !
