Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Does anyone have any recommendations for getting crbs done for staff. Its the first time Ive had to do it and havent got a clue - had mine and may partners done by ofsted. Thank you Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 You can sign up with an individual company, there was a choice of 3... we do ours with TMG and haven't had any problems at all Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I found TMG very efficient.TMG info HERE Peggy Quote
Inge Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 we also use TMG.. you have to register with them but they returned the last one we had done in 2 weeks. Inge Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 We use Capita; however they can take a while to return them and have lost a couple so we have had to submit and phone and keep chasing! Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Does the cost vary Im sure my old boss didnt pay that much for mine!! Quote
Inge Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Ofsted have paid ours so far.. so long as it is with a company approved by them Inge Quote
Lucie Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 we use tmg, we just registered and ofsted pay for it. tmg are very quick lucie Quote
Buttercup Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 we use TMG if you go on their wedsite site it will give you the info you need. Off the top of my head. All paid staff are free. volunteers are free if used for ratios. As i said they have a good website with all the info you need. angela Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I use Tmg they are very goo very prompt with replies also very self explanatary paper work. They do them free for settings I think that are registered under Ofsted. Quote
Sue R Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 We use TMG, they are, as others have said, very quick! Quote
Guest Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Thanks everyone - have registered with them and will hopefully recieve the pack to get it done Quote
narnia Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I just had a quick look at the TMG site.......it says £50 for non volunteers, plus and additional fee of £36.............so, £86 in total??? can that be right??I have misplaced my certificate and need to get a new one......but,£86?? Quote
HappyMaz Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I just had a quick look at the TMG site.......it says £50 for non volunteers, plus and additional fee of £36.............so, £86 in total??? can that be right??I have misplaced my certificate and need to get a new one......but,£86?? narnia - if you look at the faqs here they say that Ofsted are continuing to subsidise the cost for day care providers! Phew! Maz Quote
Guest Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I clicked on the side menu that said something like child care and it said that they were free http://www.tmgcrb.co.uk/dc/dcorder.htm# Quote
narnia Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I telephoned TMG this afternoon and the woman i spoke to assured me it would cost £50 for a recheck, even if I register with them! So, on that reckoning, it's cheaper to start again and do a new one Quote
wellerkaren Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Narnia are you the manager of the setting we were told by TMG that only the manager needed to pay this fee as the MANAGERS CRB DOES NOT RUN OUT i found this very strange but as the manager of the setting i still paid the fee as I felt that even the manger needs to be checked every 3 years like the rest of my team Quote
narnia Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 yes, I am the manager, so £50 from them...any cheaper alternatives?? Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I have had it in writing from both Ofsted and TMG that no-one's CRB needs to be renewed on a three year basis unless they have had a significant amount of time away from their position. I had to investigate this as I know our LA and some others were starting to insist that they be renewed every three years. Our LA has now backed down under guidance from Ofsted and we only need to renew/recheck if we have a concern or the person has been away from work for a period of time. We also have our management committee checked by TMG and Ofsted still cover the cost of that - thank goodness! Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 That's good news ! I was just about to embark on renewing our staff's checks. Once again the great people on this site come up with the goods, THANK YOU. One less job to do :( Quote
