Guest
Hello all - first time on the site today!! I'm a reception teacher and am really struggling with ideas for my class to use when in the ICT suite. Does anyone know of any good ideas for websites for chn to work on which will improve mouse control as well as provide educational fun? Have exhausted CBeebies to death! Thanks Nicola
Guest
Have you tried www.coxhoe.durham.sch.uk - lots of ideas and links to other sites etc.
Guest
i'd recommend Coxhoe too! Kent grid for learning has some good stuff for phonics (under ict games). I like the 2 Simple software. You can use it to build up to word processing and painting. it's simple as the name suggests! good luck Moo

Guest
Hi there! Have you looked in the resources section I am sure that there is a list of good websites in there which should give you plenty of ideas for ICT with your children. Just to add in Resources go into resource library, then topic themes/activities then if you scroll down it is called Early Years websites entered by suzybell and it is very good. Steve
Hi Nicola - Welcome to the Forum! Here's a shortcut to the suggestion Shelley gave (above), which does have loads of good links to ICT resources.
Guest
These ideas have been great - I'll be using lots on my new Smart Board. I like the activities on http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/vtc-home/vtc-ey-home.htm I use them alot with the whole class on the carpet in the ICT suite. They like the wordmaker activites in the phonics section in CLL and some of the K&U activities have been good. There are some slightly bizarre, but fun, activities on http://www.poissonrouge.com/ And some interactive big books with a nature theme on http://www.sebastianswan.org.uk/ I agree with moo that 2Simple stuff is great. I’ve also recently come across http://www.earlyvision.co.uk/ DVDs which you can use as a fantastic stimulus for role play. If you’ve got a few mins to spare look at http://www.jeffbridges.com/stuffaug07.html
tuffspot
don't forget ICT isn't only about computers though. You need to offer a variety of technological activities.

Guest
Hi! a bit of a late addition but my children have really enjoyed Education City (free trial available)- excellent literacy and numeracy practice! Am still trying to buy beebots for programming. Great fun this week with metal detectors for the first time. Good Luck!
