Instead of a typical tree this year we are bringing in a branch (that looks a bit like a small tree) and getting the children to bring in things to hang off it, anything- fir cones, photo's, bottle tops, conckers..... We are going to put out a range of things for them to decide how to attach their things to the tree -cellotape, thread, string, glue, paperclips etc.. and then when it's all finished with we are going to sort the materials (natural, metal, plastic etc).
