Guest Wolfie Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I discovered yesterday that the nursery I support is allowing two families to pull their children out of the nursery for the six week summer holiday and start them again in September without the families having to pay any kind of retainer to keep their children's places open. This ISN'T normal practice is it? What do other nurseries do? Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I have always had to pay for the whole summer holidays, even when I wasn't working and daughter wasn't attending - i.e. paid a retainer to keep her place. I pay for 51 weeks of the year, minus bank holidays Quote
Lucy P Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I thought that most nurseries charged a retainer - who is to say that this child will ever return and you may have turned others away! We give the parents 4 weeks holiday at 50% discount rate per year, so they could save this up and pay half price for four of the weeks, as for the other two weeks that would be full price i'm afraid Quote
belle06 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 We have a term time only place where parents pay a 50% Retainer during the holidays but this also means that they can use that 50% if they wish with prior arrangement. Quote
Sue R Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Yup, retainer, or special arrangement here, too! DNs aren't a charity!! Quote
