Guest
hi how do you take fees. Im thinking of getting parents to put fees in a envelope with their child's name and amount on and I will give a reciept at the end of the session this will give me more staff on hand in the morning when the children come in. Guest
Parents in our setting are invoiced monthly. So we only have them paying once a month rather than everyday they attend. This way they pay for days off due to illness etc, but it does make them attend more regularly and my costs are the same whether they are there or not. Parents usually place money in an envelope with their childs name on it and give it to the member of staff who is on the 'day book' This is then logged that it has been received before passig it on to me. Inge
we send a termly bill but allow parents to pay weekly as many are on benefits and find this the only way they can afford to pay. We ask parents to put money in envelope with childs name on outside and send home a reciept at the end of the session, we also state no money is kept on the premesis so no change will be given and any overpayment is credited to thier account for the next week. It got too complicated giving change all the time, never the right amount etc etc. But there is always one Inge
belle06
When our parents decide to pay (after plenty of reminders) they usually pay by cash cheque or standing order if they pay by cash they are giving a receipt straight away
Guest
My parents mainly pay by standing order, I print out the forms for them, they can pay weekly, monthly or 3 payments per term. Invoices and forms are sent out each term. Standing orders have really helped to stop arrears and non payment. Peggy
HappyMaz
Thanks for the tips - I've recently had a problem with cheques going missing and you've given me some good ideas to prevent this in future. I invoice weekly, monthly and termly, which is time consuming but clearer for the parents. Generally we don't have much of a 'bad debt' problem, but more parents are choosing to pay via internet banking which is fantastic. I have a small group of parents who pay by cash each week, always turn up with the right money, and are generally the most reliable payers. But I wouldn't want to be taking cash each week from everyone - I'd never have time for anything else! Maz
