  1. Hi Weavers, As we approach a new academic year, there is still so much uncertainty for schools and early years settings. One thing we can be sure of is that there will be new challenges to face. Ben, from our education team, has written a helpful article focused specifically on supporting children as they transition from Reception to Year 1. You can read it here to find some thoughtful tips. We will continue to create resources to support you throughout the year, whatever challenges it brings. Now let’s have a look at all the news and updates from Tapestry this month. Videos During the summer, we’ve been busy recording loads of video tutorials for both existing and new Tapestry users. They’ll help you set up your account ready for the new academic year. You can find them all on our Tapestry YouTube channel. We will continue to create more video tutorials, so do make sure to subscribe to our channel so you can see all our new videos as and when we add them. Tapestry Encyclopedia If you’re looking for assistance with a particular aspect or topic on Tapestry, such as setting up parents/relatives, take a look at our Tapestry Encyclopedia. We have divided all our Tapestry resources into chapters to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Please note, to access some of the resources, such as downloadable PowerPoints, you will need to be logged in to a Foundation Stage Forum account. A subscription to the FSF is included with every Tapestry package. Managers and full members of staff can also set up their own FSF account with their Tapestry login details. This tutorial will talk you through how to register on the forum. Articles Here on our information site we regularly add articles on a range of topics, written by a variety of authors including members of our own education team. Article topics include supporting parental engagement and the different ways to submit reading records to Tapestry. Read them all online here. Reminders Support during September As September is our busiest time of the year (as we know it is for most of you too!), our response time to support tickets may be slightly longer than usual. We always aim to answer queries as quickly as possible, so rest assured we will reply to you as soon as we can. To speed up how quickly we are able to assist you, please make sure that you contact us from a registered manager’s or staff’s email address, especially if the query relates to your account. If you have a finance or subscription question, please include your most recent invoice number if possible. Training sessions in September We know many of you are just starting out with Tapestry or are looking for ways to get the most out of it for the new academic year, so this year Lauren is around to deliver training sessions throughout September. Unfortunately, we can’t offer to come out to your school/setting, but she is very happy to do remote sessions. These cost £36 (including VAT) per 30 minutes, can last up to an hour, be for as many people from the same school/setting as you like, and can cover whatever you want! We also have loads of free written and video tutorials, though, so you might find those are the best way to help you get going – you will find them on the Foundation Stage Forum website and our Tapestry YouTube channel. If training is the way you’d like to go, however, please email customer.service@eyfs.info with: A list of what you’d like to cover in the session. Whether you are looking for help using Tapestry in KS1/KS2, EYFS, or SEND (or a mix). A couple of dates and times that you could do (Monday – Friday starting at any time 9.30am – 4pm). Whether you would like a 30 minute session or 1 hour session. Slots are limited but we’ll do our best to fit you in for your preferred date. If we can’t find a date in September we will be able to book you in for later in the term. Other members of the team will start offering training sessions from October the 19th as well, so there will be a lot more availability then. Payment for invoices We’d like to remind anyone who will be paying for the renewal of their account soon by BACS that our bank details changed last year. Your invoice will include the correct details, so please do double check these, just in case. Also, if you pay by bank transfer, make sure to include your invoice number in the payment reference, send a remittance advice to bacs@eyfs.info and allow 5-7 working days for the payment to be processed. This tutorial will talk you through the different ways you can arrange payment for an invoice. If you have any questions about your invoice or making a payment, you can contact us, quoting your invoice number, by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info.
  2. Hi twinthinguk and Chughes, All very good suggestions! The more users ask for this feature - including the 'read' option in the Care Diary - the higher priority level they'll get Best wishes, Olaya
  3. Hi Catherine and jeaniedodsley, Our colleague Jack recently wrote an article exploring three different ways of recording readings on Tapestry with the tools currently available. You can read it here. I hope you find it helpful! Best wishes, Olaya
  4. Hi jeaninedodsley and Lilliputianplay, Thank you so much for your suggestion! This is something other setting's have requested as well, so we are currently looking into it. We will keep you in the loop of its development Best wishes, Olaya
  5. Hi EYFSWPNY, Congratulations on your first post!! We have recently added the option to make use of the Accidents and Comments section without having to enable the entire Care Diary. Would this be more suitable for you? Just in case, I am leaving some tutorials below (this is to enable Accidents and Comments out of the Care Diary): How to enable the Accidents Feature Adding an Accident Form from the Accidents Feature Using the Comments Tool in the Accidents Feature I am afraid, however, that if you want to access the 'Meals' section, for example, you'd need to enable the full Care Diary and then ignore those sections that you wouldn't need. We've had some other settings requesting similar things, so we are looking into making the sections within the Care Diary optional, but no decision has been made yet. The more people request it, though, the more likely it will be that we tackle that next! Best wishes, Olaya
  6. Hi WoodsidePrimary, Thank you for getting in touch with us! Certainly, there's a couple of things you can do for this: You can assign the children in your class as your key children by going to control panel > manage staff > manage key children (a green button on the top right hand side of the staff list). You will then be able to assign your class as your key children. Once you have done this, then you have two more options: You can change your default page filters to only showing you your key children. This means that, wherever you go, by default you will only see your key children. If you needed to access other children you'd need to change the filters to set the 'key person' field to 'any' as it will be set to you by default. You can do this by clicking on your profile's drop down menu on the top right hand side corner > edit preferences > change key children preferences > ticking the only box available here > save. You can leave your page filters to accessing all children, and whenever you want to check your key children only you can click on the filter & sort bar and change the 'key person' field from 'any' to you. Alternatively, if you don't want to assign yourself with key children then you can simply create a group from control panel > manage groups. You can then add your children to this group, and whenever you want to filter by your key children you'll be able to access the filter & sort bar and select your group from the 'group' field. I hope this was helpful, but do let me know if you have any queries our doubts about this! Best wishes, Olaya
