haha yes but then in all honesty since I became a manager I seem to be "over wound" quite a lot of the time!xD

Especially at this time! Trying to do right by families children and staff .... I decided to hideaway and make a cake instead!

  2. Hi everyone

I am starting to carve out a policy and procedure for reopening. Just wondering how you are getting on with your policies? My mind has turned to jelly through overthinking and little sleep lol. Wondering if any has a policy for their setting they might be willing to share. Thank you 🙂

  3. Thank you, you have put my mind at ease! There just seems to be so many things changing atm and I am feeling swamped. ....I have seen discussions about not reading stories on line from familiar books which we use in the nursery normally so I will need to go and trawl through and find out more!

  4. I believe the government have said if you are claiming government funding ie Free Entitlement you are not eligible to claim this support as well... but I am not sure if that applies to Early years settings. A tad confused so I thought I would see if anyone has a better grasp of this than me. ☹️

  5. Hi folks,

I hope you are coping ok in these fast changing uncertain times. I am a small setting and we have had to close . We will be in receipt of the Government funding but many of our parents who would have paid for further hours cannot use them because of the Governments advice about self isolating. Therefore we are solely dependant on the government funds. I was hoping to be able to claim using the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme but it seems that I am not able to. I was wondering if anyone had found any other means of financial support.

    Many thanks

  6. Hi we have Storyphones and were caught out just like you... we even had £50 credit that hadn't been spent but when the company went bust and sold to the next owners (who are in fact the manufacturers Opsol UK of the Storyphones) we were told that we had lost all! The original company went bust about 3 years ago are you saying that Opsol have not gone bust?

We bought another set last year and have experienced nothing but problems which the sets; despite the company's efforts to fix them the company have not been able to put the problem right. They even gave us a replacement set for free but that didn't work either so we are stuck with two brand new sets that we cannot use :-(

You could try recording your own stories onto the phones if you have the little story phone recorder (often bought with the 6 way system). You can find out how to do this in your manual. Hope you have luck as when they are working they are terrific and much sturdier that the TTS version.

We had credit which was lost too! My phones work well but we have the same stuff on them which is boring. I think opsol are still running. I will look at the link Rebecca has sent.

  7. Hi,

I have had a set of storyphones for years and have not used them for a while. I do not remember my password for bookshelf but the company went into liquidation last year and no one at the company can help.; Does anyone have any ideas.

The company have said that resources on my bookshelf may not be available. Where do you get stories to download please. Dpes anyone have any useful links

    Thank you

  8. I have decided to print out the entries each time a child's next steps are due to share with parents. Can anyone advise on how I can make the page numbers continue. Each time I print a new set the numbers start at 1. it is picky but if there is a way to sort it out that would be great. thanks

  9. I thought I had read somewhere that there is an ECAT tool within Tapestry. I cannot find it. Please can someone show me where it might be using an idiots guide. I have the SALT tool as a paper copy but would like to link it to the child on Tapestry. TIA

    Thank you

  10. Hi

I am in the process of employing new practitioners. My old reference letter seems a bit dated. Is there anyone who is able to share what their reference paperwork looks like.

Also can anyone advise me on health questionnaires for new staff and what they may put in their paperwork.

Are we still allowed to ask for this type of information. Just not sure but want to be able to do it right..

  11. Hi I am having a dads stay and play session and was wondering about any resources which you think might be useful to support the topic... The educational value of play... I have some parents who want their child to be able to read and write aged just 3... The child's is communication is poor and they are only just starting to learn to play. I wanted to gently highlight the benefits... Does anyone have any ideas on a simple leaflet to support this area. Thank you in advance.
