Well sunnyday, one of the things I do do, so that I don't spend humungus amounts of time drawing tables etc. is I have designed what I need on my laptop, so all I do is print them off when I need to. I have a couple of trackers running which is nice to complete, such as everyday tasks in the home and work life, it sort of motivates me to do it somehow -you know how we all love to tick something ! What I have grown to love is they are so individual.
Looking at some on pinterest, I believe some of the American girls do spend an eternity making them look pretty! But, they enjoy that, just as some people obviously enjoy adult colouring books, knitting, crochet and embroidery.

2017
in Staff Lounge
Feeling rather lax in the old resolution area! Back on the sugar free diet I think, although that chef Tom Kerridge has a new book out in January, might take a look at that, not that I have 10 stone to lose, thank goodness.
The bullet journal thing has made me far more organised that I could imagine, so I don't need to prod myself about that.
Might have to go for, clearing out the office/den/dump/crikey shove it in there hole. Just pop in for an hour or so each day until it's done. Then........ keep it that way ::1a ::1a ::1a ::1a ::1a yea, right!

I wanted to share these photos, the Robin is fairly easy to photograph, he comes twice a day and sometimes sings to me :1b :1b but the Wren is so quick I've struggled to get her, but finally, after having a bird table for Christmas I managed to do it.
The cats are eating the cheese I put out, I'll be having words!!
However, Rea, they will probably deal with the other little visitors you wont want to be having!
Everytime we feed the birds at nursery, either rats or mice turn up. The children love to watch the rats on the bird feeder - the children are indoors, I hasten to add a this point, but once the rats know there is food in there, that's it, we have to give it up. But with these cats on the prowl, you may be a lot better off than we are.

I'm done (I know it's not Friday but it feels like one)! Such a long last couple of days although they were nice - so many poorly children - I was down to 65% attendance on one day. I sort of wished that we didn't have fun things planned for yesterday as there were clearly some children who really weren't well but were desperate to come to school for the party.
Yes my granddaughter missed out this year. They ought to have finished last Friday in my opinion. They were exhausted poor things and half her class off with D&V. Not much fun in that - and of course, ready to spread it to other members of families who are visiting - someone's festivities are bound to be spoiled.

I used to love the sound of the boys first thing Christmas morning opening their stockings - "he's been" etc.

I think that's been the problem in a way finleysmaid, we have had a 10 day period of general sickness where certain groups have been off, but they are now near enough all back and making up for lost time.

I echo your thoughts Sunnyday, my patience is being stretched to the limit by some unwanted behaviour from my usual suspects and there has been a sudden increase in "empty it all out and put it somewhere else" type play, my transporters will be the death of me, I swear.

Manor, I am sorry to hear your news, a very upsetting time for you all.

Well the decs are up, we have Natvity next week and haven't even sorted the cast yet .....it might be a case of who wants to be who on the day at this rate :-/
The photo booth sounds like fun :-)
When we used to do a "proper" nativity that was the way I did it. Over the previous week or so they had all had a jolly good go at doing something they wanted to do so almost any of them could do anything on the day given enough confidence and will to do it.
Next Monday we have invited parents in and I shall read the nativity story and if any feel like dressing up they can, or if they want to bring something to wear they can - it worked ok last year, so we thought we go with the flow on it again, having not done a nativity for many years it made a good change. Tuesday is the party and then yay that's it.

We had some funny photos today with the children - we got one of those photo booth packs and the children really took to it. Some great shots, we will be putting them onto the digital frame to play while the parents are in next week, hope they think they're as funny as we do!

no we dont i dont even look at the type of birth certificate which could offer this information, I just ask to see their short birth certificates.
Sometimes parents offer up that information however, and it is nice to know in some ways

Just a quick reminder to let you know that the registration to receive a World Book Day pack and book tokens closes this Wednesday (23 November) at midnight.
Please click here to register now and avoid missing out.
The registration process takes less than 3 minutes.
World Book Day 2017 takes place on Thursday 2 March, when we will be celebrating 20 amazing years − so please join us and DO SOMETHING BOOKY!Received this e mail today - thought I would just check they had us down as registered from a few weeks ago - not sure they did, my password wasn't accepted, so I re-registered. We will see what happens in January/February time. -
We used to have scrap stores in Norwich where I lived many years ago and I believe there was one here in Kent a while back - they were very useful for odd things for the children to use - firms used to donate stuff to the stores so you could find quite strange things in there! You might have one near you where you could pick up a few bits, or on freecycle sites.
Does she have a dedicated "workshop" area at home, or somewhere they could make it a workshop, our lads used to have a corner of the garage at one time. My eldest who was always inventor minded shall we say, is now 24 and contemplating giving up the day job because he would really love now to recycle, upcycle and sell things he has made. Looks like the corner of the garage could be back in use!
-
Well finally have received mine. Went on this evening to register, got all the way to the point of putting in a password and the site crashed!
I'll try tomorrow.
BtTW Marley - my letter came in a white envelope, not a lovely HMRC brown one - looked like junk mail.

Yes a combination of the 2 might be the way to go! Surprising when they said Ofsted inspects every 4 years - it came across as such a long time in between - but in reality it seems like they are always coming in - when you live with the threat of it.
I was sorry that neither speaker managed to get across that until recently we had no warning of visits, and now it's only a day, why do we always get lumped together with schools?
I have always tried so hard not to put on a show for Ofsted when they are in, it is always warts and all with us.
Never an excuse to be cutting corners with staff or volunteers in the setting.
I seriously doubt that GMB would be interested in outstanding practice - the old adage Dog Bites Man is no attention grabbing headline however Man Bites Dog is. Piers certainly covered his posterior by saying, of course, there are many brilliant nurseries out there, my own 4 children went to one............. as far as he is concerned it's case closed.

Bullet Journals
in Early Years Setting Management

TBH Isp, you would do just as well to look up Bullet Journals on pinterest or youtube, youtube have some tutorials to blow your mind! and your time!
They are so very individual there really isn't a format as such, but there are helpful signs on those sites to get you started, after that it's a bit trial and error as to what suits and helps you. I started incredibly small, I used a small note pad and put ideas in there which \i felt would help me, and I tested them there and when I was thinking hmm that's been helpful I began to formulate my templates on the laptop. I now print out what I want, stick it into my notebook and away I go.
