  1. I have one child been given this, she is way ahead in everything and requires no extra resources etc. I'm considering asking the parent if they have any thoughts on it.

We have one like this and thought we might access the " Gifted and Talented" course.

  2. Did anyone mention the incident to the parent at collection time? The incident really should be recorded, especially if it involves a head injury. You don't want the wrath of the parent added to the mix and I think you need to cover yourself: especially as you witnessed the incident.

When I read things like this on the forum, I always think ' How would I feel if this was going on at a setting that my child was attending?'

I think doing nothing is not an option here. A difficult position to be in...... take care x

  3. We have these List of Providers (LOP) meetings once a term....only one person from setting allowed to go.....best thing about it.....can do a bit of shopping while in that town....but worse thing..we used to get a buffet lunch...now its just tea and biscuits..LOL

Biscuits?!! What's those?? We got absolutely nothing at our last meeting. Just got told about the water station in the next room!

  4. So ...catch up on this I have had two out of the three payments owed. !!! (so nearly £1,500)

    Third one.....

Mum gave us a sob story about Dad being ill and they were moving and........blah blah ....I was just beginning to fall for it and then a trustee (who has her on facebook) sent me a link about her daughter starting a new nursery !) so guess what I am now chasing her for the money!!!!

    You go girl!!

  5. I can sympathise with you, we are a packaway setting and also have no office. The main thing to remember is that YOUR child comes first. Also, you can only do so much in one day. Try not to get in the habit of taking too much home no matter how tempting it is. I know we all joke about our "to do" lists but if you write down the absolute essentials to keep you ticking over each day, it might help. Could the burden be shared with your staff? It helps if they can take on a job from the list. I feel your pain, I really do.

  6. Well, last year we had a Lexi x2, Layla, Lyla, Lola, Leya, and Leo. It was like a tongue twister each day!

I'm waiting for the Game of Thrones influence to filter through.

  7. Sadly, I think this is becoming a more popular route for anyone who doesn't get their way. I 've had this happen to me too. One parent who owed lots of money told Ofsted we had put her child in a cupboard (!). I had a great deal of pleasure opening cupboards, stuffed to the brim to show Inspector that there not even an inch of space let alone a large child! (I didn't say that of course!)

  8. I was and still am, a real bookworm. That's what I find hard with this job sometimes, finding time to read for pleasure. I loved My Naughty Little Sister books...... because I had one! I must have been a strange child, I really loved scaring myself and Grimm's Ghost Stories was regularly on my list!

I was lucky that my granddad worked at Longmans publishers in London so I got a lot of books free. My Mum says I used to "read" a newspaper upside down (the paper, not me!!) while in the pram.

Does anyone remember Mr Pinkwhistle books?
