Guest DeborahF Posted December 7, 2006 Share Posted December 7, 2006 We've been asked to get hold of some printed Makaton signs/symbols to use in the nursery with a little boy who has very delayed speech - we'll be encouraging him to make choices between two activities, etc. by showing him the signss, e.g. sand or water? Inge Posted December 7, 2006 Share Posted December 7, 2006 we usually get the signs from whoever asked us to introduce them.... If asked to use one system would suggest you use that one rather than another, it could be that consistency is the key and the signs can be used by lots of different places at once ( in our case, us, springboard, speech therapy, portage, parents, so need to be the same) If we cannot get a symbol we use a photograph as it is individual to the setting.
