We just used the fondant type ready to roll icing and added peppermint flavouring and green colouring. There is a recipe from this site however.

Glad it all went well Andreamay.

We made the take and bake buns posted on the recipe section today. Had to replace the milk with another egg and some water as we have a boy who can't have milk. They were easy to make and looked fine although I didn't get to taste one! (The children all knew exactly how many they had made and they were taking that many home!)

Is it true we cannot use raw egg whites? The only recipes I could find all contained raw egg white but we were going to include a note to warn pregnant ladies they may with to pass them on to dad! We have already bought the ingredients - found in a children's cooker book, and are due to make them tomorrow - now I'm panicing!

I think the advice is still to avoid raw egg unless it is pasteurised. There are other recipes using evaporated milk or condensed milk though.
