Hi

Our topic in the next few weeks is time, trouble is i can't think of any songs connected with the topic. The only one i can think of that is slightly connected is this is the way we brush our teeth early in the morning etc.... and hickory dickory dock, does anybody know any others.

My children love 'What time is it Mr Wolf',Its great as you can see them all counting out loud.

We play it in the playground so they can scream as they run away!

Hi - we clap a steady (clock) rhythm and say the rhyme

Tick, tock,

Tick. tock

Listen to the cuckoo clock

Cuck oo,

what's the time

Listen to his chirpy chime

(clap once)

One o'clock

repeat the rhyme adding on claps - children listen and than say how many claps eg One o'clock, two o'clock etc

I'm sure we sing more than this, will have a think . ..

How about the good old-fashioned rhyme: Monday's child is full of ...... ?

Sorry - can't remember the exact words without looking them up!!!

I used to love it when I was little!

Think there's a days of week song in one of the hymn books used in many schools. It goes

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday too.

1234567 days

Each day different and every day new,

Maybe some kind person can tell you where you could find the tune.

Sung to here we go round the mulberry bush

These are the chores we'll do this week,

Do this week,

Do this week.

These are the chores we'll do this week,

So early every morning.

This is the way we wash our clothes,

Wash our clothes,

Wash our clothes.

This is the way we wash our clothes,

So early Monday morning.

This is the way we iron our clothes,

Iron our clothes,

Iron our clothes.

This is the way we iron our clothes,

So early Tuesday morning.

This is the way we scrub the floor,

Scrub the floor,

Scrub the floor.

This is the way we scrub the floor,

So early Wednesday morning.

This is the way we mend our clothes,

Mend our clothes,

Mend our clothes.

This is the way we mend our clothes,

So early Thursday morning.

This is the way we sweep the floor,

Sweep the floor,

Sweep the floor.

This is the way we sweep the floor,

So early Friday morning.

This is the way we bake our bread,

Bake our bread,

Bake our bread.

This is the way we bake our bread,

So early Saturday morning.

This is the way we get dressed up,

Get dressed up,

Get dressed up.

This is the way we get dressed up,

So early Sunday morning.

I was looking for these last week, the best one I found is sung to the tune of The Addams Family.

Days of the week (clap, clap),

Days of the week (clap, clap),

Days of the week

Days of the week

Days of the week (clap, clap)

There's Sunday and there's Monday,

There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday,

There's Thursday and there's Friday

And then there's Saturday.

Days of the week (clap, clap),

Days of the week (clap, clap),

Days of the week

Days of the week

Days of the week (clap, clap)

My class loved it once they got used to it.

There is also this one, sung to the tune of 'Oh my darling Clementine' (think that's what the song is called!)

There are 7 days

There are 7 days

There are 7 days in the week

There are 7 days

There are 7 days

There are 7 days in the week.

Sunday, Monday,

Tuesday, Wednesday,

Thursday, Friday, Saturday,

Sunday, Monday,

Tuesday, Wednesday,

Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

We use this with our children and use days of the week cards etc as they sing along. We also now have specific activities that we do on each day of the week and pictures of these are used on the days of the week cards to show the children which day we are singing about.
