Any managers out there that feel they cant win with staff

Keep ranting. We were told during an inspection that if we actually 'run to ratio' we could have been marked down under 'staff deployment' due to the size and layout of our premises. :o

We have 5 staff and on a few sessions technically we could get away with only 3 staff.

We are running to ratio at the moment, but finding it every hard as each staff member has quite a few key work profiles. We are thinking of getting someone else in to spread the load, but finances are tight.

I have had a number of parents comment on what a good thing the 30hrs will be for the setting - they were all astounded when I told them that our funding is considerably less than our 'charged' hourly rate - they all assumed it would have been more!! - People just do not realise the ridiculous amount we are given - the new living wage is going to cause my setting considerable financial problems - as others have said it will bring assistants pay in line with Deputy and Manager. I am in the process of trying to purchase the business but I am having to seriously consider the financial implications of the 'living wage' and pensions. We also run above ratio and staff are always kept busy I do not know how we could safely run if we ran 'to ratio'.

sorry to rant but I feel better now x
