I have a level 2 staff who is a key worker but lacks any SEN training but thinks she should be in meetings with parents.

Long term staff only just got level 2 and cant attend SEN training as our authority want level 3 and above.

She is known for her gossiping too

What do I do???

We have 'one-plans' in our LA which have to take into account everyone involved with child - so on that premise I would say yes the key-person should be in on meetings.

However as you have confidentially issues could she just attend part of meeting and give her input rather than the whole meeting?

We try to insure that our SEN children are with either a L3, or- when possible the Senco has them as her key-children. That said we're lucky that it's very easy for us to do that with our set-up, and can see that might not work for other settings.

I think I would tackle the gossiping situation first! If you don't believe she will keep information about the child or family confidential, there is no way I would involve her in a meeting of this nature at all. Confidentiality is a basic requirement, no matter what level of qualification.
