We have recently been taken over by the academy that we are in the grounds of instead of being a charity run preschool.

Do we legally now have to have a qualified teacher in preschool ( I have Early Years degree and EYP status) or can we use the EYFS teachers from the foundation stage to cover that part. Unsure as to how we stand. I was under the impression that the school teacher would cover or am I wrong?

Academies can "make up their own rules" so to speak and there does not need to be a QTS.

That said in the primary school I worked in, we had a pre school that was run by a pre school leader and "over seen" by the head but she kind of just let us get in with it really.
