Foreveryoung
we are awaiting our LA's delivery and policy in regards to this, I had to e-mail them as we have not heard anything yet and they just said it is coming out in April and they will be in contact. We are listing a few ideas ready for the demands to be placed but while we wait we have music man as an idea who will come in and do group work including eypp children and others, another is to extend a current staff members hours by a few each week to release the senco out of ratio's to carry out more specific groups aimed around psed and cl, another is to fund achievement for all which we are a pilot setting but this comes to an end in july and we have to pay for it if we want it after then, this target eypp children and the setting as a whole. We already have our 2 year funded as a group on tapestry, I am planning on grouping children eypp to assess impact. As for identification we know most of our families well which helps but it will be incorporated into the setting induction plans, and parent meetings along with key workers playing a massive part and it being attached to our funding forms which are signed termly- as far as i am aware the council will expect us to do the leg work for finding out who is eligible. I'm so looking forward to the council's revelations in what they expect us to do - just as i run away and hide under a table lol.
Guest
looks like our school is not alone in knowing what is going on. communication and language is our major issue with 3 of the early starters having virtually no speech at all. what criteria is there for it? FSM and LAC i guess
Amina_Hussain
Hello, Just to let you know our LA is also doing a briefing in the next few weeks, so we will hopefully find out more. We are not considering any plans or changes as at present we can't guarantee how much funding we will receive. But as a few have mentioned I think our focus would be on the prime areas, if its additional resources needed or staff time for small group times. Definitely think our tracking will then have to highlight children with EYPP so we can monitor if this extra funding is making a difference. Having said that I do believe all children in the setting may also benefit, ie if a staff member has makaton training to directly support communication & language dev. they will be using it daily and other staff will also be encouraged to enhance their own communication skills. Lets see what happens...
Amina_Hussain
Hello again, Please use this link for more info. I really try not to rely on the LA as their guidance often comes too late and would still need to be adapted to my setting. http://www.gov.uk/early-years-pupil-premium-guide-for-local-authorities I feel any extra funding into ey is helpful so am being very positive at the moment!! hali
it is based on the free school meals criteria £300 per child per year - you will just need to evidence to Ofsted what you are doing for these children to help 'close the gap'
