what's the difference between these two?

• Beginning to represent numbers using fingers, marks on paper or pictures
• Shows an interest in representing numbers

Not much.

The first is about learning that numbers can be seen as digits either fingers on hands or by writing them.

The second is the child wanting to do this rather than when they are asked to. It also them putting toys together and saying "there's 3."
