Pre-school Assistants or Pre-School Practitioners

Just wondering what is the title for the ladies/gentlemen that work with the children?

Pre-School/Nurery Assistants or

Pre-school/Nursery Practitioners

I think Practitioner sounds more professional and whilst researching job vacancy's 'Practitioner' seems very popular.

I call my lot pre-school teachers if they are practitioners with keyperson responsibilities if not then they are pre-school assistants.

I've gone for preschool assistant (they are key people too), because I think practitioner is a bit of a mouthful and less parent friendly, but that's just my opinion.
