registering with environmental health

Hi can anyone there help me please. I have been involved with a breakfast and after school club for several years now, which is based within school grounds but run as a separate business. We provide breakfast and then snacks in afternoon, sometimes with the need to heat in microwave,

The school however told us there was no need to register with environmental health as we were covered within their setting. However I have recently been informed that this is not correct anymore and need to be registered separately. Can anyone confirm this for me please

I don't know for sure but I would think you need to be registered with them. You need to contact the environmental health department of your local council. They are usually very helpful. They should supply you with a document called Safer Food Better Business which has everything in it to help you and your staff get to grips with the legislation and requirements. They would also be able to tell you if you still come under the school's 'umbrella'.
