flowlow
Not really a work question but a family member asked me for some recommendations on basic books for child development (I quote here 'one for dummies'!!) all the ones I have are for practitioners, training/courses or linked to practice and too in-depth I think for what she wants. Does anyone have any ideas on some good ones?
catma
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Birth-Five-Years-Childrens-Developmental/dp/0415423651/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1370972338&sr=1-1 I use this as my reference book for trainings etc. It's a classic text but very accessible. Stargrower
I was going to suggest the Mary Sheridan one too. It's quite 'old school' and makes no links to curriculum/ EYFS but is an absolute classic and suitable for beginners.
ForestFlo
I was going to suggest Carolyn Meggit - its very easy to dip into, comes with a dvd. Has a little theory at the back but very accessible. FF
