Madmum
Hi! Just wondered if anyone has any recent info on Impetigo? I have read the forum post from 2005. We have 1 child who has definitely had it and been treated at the end of last week, one who was off ill ( ear infection) all last week and has come back with what looks like Impetigo (having now seen it once!) but Mum seems disinterested ( and we're not medical professionals and can only suggest they get it checked), and one today who may possibly have it. Not all attend the same session. We have the HPA advice which has been followed wiht the confirmed case but are not sure how many cases constitutes ' an outbreak' and can find little advice on whether we need to clean everything or not. Will get some advice tomorrow via school health, but not sure if we need to be more worried. Cheers!
Rea
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Impetigo/Pages/Prevention.aspx you need to scroll down to read the relevent piece but the bottom line is its highly contagious and children should be kept off. Madmum
Thank you! Not sure if we need to be certain it's classed as an outbreak if there are 3 children across 2 sessions (who have no contact outside nursery). If it is, there's a huge amount of washing to be done!!
